Reality Check by Jack M. Freedman

He did not fail

as a friend

for not keeping

in contact

after my

father died

He failed

as a friend

for considering

being supportive

of my suffering

an obligation

He once said

losing compassion

was an end product

of his pain

after getting burned

numerous times

His lack of

compassion

is most likely

why he keeps

getting burned

time after time

He needs to face

the sad reality

that he can't

lose something

he never had

in the first place
