Winter Charms by Fred Miller

Winter weaves its charms in a sprightly dance of jaunty flakes
in the grip of fickle gusts that touch and nip our cheeks. And with
mirth on covered hills and frozen ponds where people come to play.
And frosted mugs of cheer by hearths that warm and stir the heart.

Winter cloaks our memories with a radiance of fruits bygone and
fallow where the source of spring’s spell, snug and silent, remains
hidden under quilts of leaves and snow. Awakened by abiding light,
hopes of coming colors bring new promise of a season revered by all.

Fred Miller is a California writer. Over eighty of his poems and stories have appeared in publications around the world over the past ten years. Many may been found on his blog: https://pookah1943.wordpress.com
