Spring by Jonel Abellanosa

Anxiety is the bluebird

through air rippling sounds

of all flags in my ear,

finding my shoulder

A voice from Italy visits

my imagination as the violin,

my room the concert hall

but no one else is here

so we could remind ourselves

it’s alright to touch

the hands of the people

of the golden years

Tomorrow, I will return

to my place in the open, to breathe,

let the bird on my shoulder

find its way home
