Reunion by Alec Solomita

I’m ready once more

for the pale pages of books,

for words and their occupants

to crowd my heart again.

Welcome back,

long lounging sentences,

cryptic short ones,

Tennyson ‘wild with all regret’

And Robert Hayden

‘What did I know, what did I know

of love's austere and lonely offices?’
