A Box We Don’t Need by Charlotte Cosgrove

There is a box still filled with things.

For over a month it has been in the hallway.

Dust has gathered around its bottom corners.

It’s settling in, cushioning itself.

Brown tape is beginning to lift at the sides.

Beginning to expose itself to hair, dust, and miniscule insects.

It is a trap. Inviting us to open it.

Charlotte Cosgrove is a poet and English teacher from Liverpool, England. She has a Master's degree in Writing. She has work forthcoming in Beyond Words magazine.
