Hummingbird by Sha Huang

A hummingbird flitted across the flower shelf: 

A flash in the shadow 

No time to tell the color of her wings 

My eyes got burned by the flame 


Sha Huang grew up in China and received her PhD degree in the University of Iowa. Her poems were published in more than 15 literary journals and anthologies in China and the U.S, including Verse-Virtual, Global Poemic, Chinese and Western Poetry, Anthology of Chinese Poetry 2019. She currently teaches Chinese and Asian cultures at a university in Georgia.
