Healing by Gopal Lahiri

Those docile headlights are in search of

metaphor, this falling in drops and

the windows blur the leafy alleys

The street with its cares and glances

becomes the domain of trivial,

the tiny rafts of refuge knock the door.

Rain-puddles alphabetize the grey clouds

the world dissects morning whispers

through dense foliage and lonely shadows.

There are no such thing as lost steps

silent dawns rise above the bends of rivers,

the soft haze and the long darkness bleed.

Old keys draw unknown capillary curves

letting a little light in the dark chamber,

something is waiting to converse in sunbeams.
