full of stars by Mark A. Fisher

it’s another summer sunset

and stars begin to remember their names

where the scent of roses and mimosa

waft lazily through muggy air

behind a tumble down garage

holding someone else’s memories

clouded like the empty sky

that ain’t quite dark

despite the hour

and the lingering heat

of that long summer day

laid out with comic books

and sandwiches

under a tree

my crumpled memories

dangling on clotheslines

and swing sets

waiting for a me

that’s just as faded

as this sunset sky

now filled with stars
