Flotsam & Jetsam by Gary Grossman

Flotsam,

an accident,

cans loosed by

twenty foot combers,

climb and fall,

climb and fall,

bow skidding

into the trough.

Keys, wallet,

lines, adrift,

unleashed by a

chance slip.

Jetsam,

debris heaved

for cause,

life lightened.

Entanglements cut free.

Remora friends

and eight-armed guilt,

drift to a cobalt gyre.

Baggage to lose,

so years are

not an itchy wake.
