Amazon Dream by Lorraine Caputo
A ragged ship departs port
& starts its journey down
the Amazon Basin, dusk
wrapping brilliant sunset
colors, the jungle falling
into black, mysterious
sounds echoing across the earthy
water of the river softly splashing
under the bow.
Weary children snuggle
in the arms of their parents,
they sway in rhythm to the
night breeze that carries
a guitar tune from one dark
corner where a couple dances,
the wild-haired man with his
hand in one pocket
