Years Ago by Ann Privateer

Before developers built houses

Orchards existed here. Fifty years later

Someone cut them all down, a foot above

ground.

Termites and ants had a feast on that

Wood, made themselves at home and still

Are here today, they will rule the world after

we are gone.

Ann Privateer is a poet, artist, and photographer. Some of her work has appeared in Third Wednesday and Entering to name a few.
