Winter Full Moon by Sharon Waller Knutson

Awake in my pajamas,

nibbling on fruitcake,

I stand by the window

on this winter night,

and watch the black bear sky

devour the magnificent mango

moon one bite at a time.

while the countryside

sleeps beneath a soft

marshmallow crème frosting.

When the sky’s appetite is satisfied

it melts into mouthwatering

coconut crème chocolate

and then swirls into strawberry

parfait before the apricot marmalade

sun is spread on blueberry toast.
