Weeping Willows by Pardee Lowe, Jr.

(Saules à Giverny)

Overcome by light

there’s no distance

I can place myself

and resist it.

All is there -- leaves

branches, trees,

grass – but nothing

totally clear,

as if the light -- only allows

outlines – my eye be challenged

to see what’s really there.

Pardee Lowe, Jr.is a poet from Falls Church, VA. He has a B.A. in German, an M.A. in German with Linguistic Emphasis and a PhD in German and Ancient Icelandic, all from UC-Berkeley.
