The Silent Mountains by Rachel Grosvenor

Each day I quell the silence that

Drips

       Drips

               Drips

                       Into my space.

Between my four walls the absence of noise is repugnant, and yet

I climb

          Up

              As high as I can,

To stare out at the mountains that surround me.

The reward is awe, it is

Breath,

          Still,

                Calm,

And a silence so glorious, that it cannot be embraced.
