Snow Globe by Barbara Alfaro

Angel in a glass sphere, all

who touch you hold your destiny.

A movement of a single hand

and fake snow covers you.

On your pedestal of hidden music

you cannot see a kiss, stars,

the tree cut from the forest

Christmas Eve.

Imagine the crystal breaking,

liquid spilling, wings dissolving

as you become large and human.

Still

            alone

                        you breathe
