Slipping Behind the Veil by Christine Herbstritt

It seems like we are laughing one minute

then I look up & see that her eyes look bruised

though I can’t see what caused the pain.

It’s as if she is now behind a curtain.

Here, but far, far away

And I don’t know what made her go.

I see her

falling

slipping

sinking

And I can’t catch her.

Wife, and mother to 3 daughters, Christine's previous lives include nonprofit management, grant writing and fund development. She currently is employed at a Senior Care Facility, which provides her a plethora of stories. Among her other creative endeavors is creating original needle felted characters.

Christine has had works published in the following: Uppagus.org Issue #34; ThePoetryMagazine.org, Lockdown Issue; Auroras & Blossoms abpoetryjournal.com; and The Museum of Poetry museumofpoetry.org
