rogue waves by Edward L. Canavan

holding forth with open arms

longing unreturned

like a quiet strangeness

cast in the shadows of the sun

cornered somewhere between tenses

in the gray hollow of suspended occurrence

tides signaling turn after turn

far from the sickeningly crowded shores.
