Petrichor by Rin Willocks

The world smelled of petrichor

The day after the rain

After flood warnings and drowning hearts

Found their ground again

There was a beauty to the puddles

Like a little sea for paper sailboats

And maybe those puddles

Reflected a piece of me

Saying you don’t have to be an ocean

To hold you hopes afloat

Rin Willocks is writer of poetry and short fiction. She pulls her inspiration from mother nature, human nature, and the parallels found between them. Rin is currently studying English in her home city of Nashville, TN.
