Paper Cranes by Mia Tan
Parchment severs
the high drifts of morning
as fire’s keen grasp
only begins
to subside.
Over retching rivulets
and crumbling walls,
the eyes
mar into ashen stone.
The mind
hones a poisoned notch.
Yet
even ink of blood
names the unmarked.
Even peace
endures
on broken,
flailing wings.
