Orchid by Wai-Mei Chan

Forget

Neglect

Forgive

The more

careless

the quieter progress

Starved

Drip

fed

Parched

Drop

Dead

on the brink,

Waiting patiently

to drink

Surprise! See?

Verdant vitality a budding shoot breaks through and true,

run cold

run cold tap

Blazing, blooming and brilliant display

Basking in your rays

Will change my ways

I forget

I neglect

You forgive

Wai-Mei Chan lives in the UK with her partner and her subscriptions; to utilities, media, friendship and fiction. She also has a never-ending box of teabags. All six elements are a privilege, which are often taken for granted, but should always be treasured. She dedicates this poem to Gemma
