Ode to Jupiter by Sarah Henry

O Jupiter, you’re

the big and toasty

king of planets.

If you were any

larger, you’d be

a star centered

in a solar system.

A wind sets blazes

across your planet.

Everything ignites

nonstop so the red

spot stays on fire

and glows brightly

as a cosmic furnace.

We on Earth watch

Jupiter burning

through telescopes.

Juno sent a report

which puzzles us:

“The hot cloud

cover rains down

a steady shower

of diamonds.”

Can this be true?

O Jupiter, the king,

we long to get to

the bottom of you.
