Light As A Feather by Douglas G. Cala

Doves, light as feathers, take flight

Outstretched wings, expansive span

Unison, they flock united

Governed by nothing but the atmosphere

Like lilting songbirds they sonically serenade

Assimilated, part of one sentient entity

Sun baring down on them, blinding, wings searing hot


Douglas G. Cala is a performance poet and multimedia/IT professional from New York City. He has performed at such venues including the Bowery Poetry Club, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Cornelia Street Cafe, Purchase College, Columbia University, Busboys and Poets (Washington, DC), Raven Lounge, Cafe Vivaldi, and the IMPerfect Gallery (Philadelphia), among others. In addition to his work as a full-time multimedia and IT specialist for the NYC Department of Education, Douglas freelances actively in the theater and film industries. His poetry can be seen in IMPSPIRED, Quail Bell Magazine, and NYSAI Magazine, among others.
