Horizon by Giya Sood

The sun dwells daintily on the border of the sea,

Streaking the sky with hues of pink for as far the eye can see.

As the clouds clear and the mystical darkness is on the rise,

The appearance of a lone star about the horizon almost always takes one by surprise.

It creeps from the sky across the tumultuous waves,

From this treacherous darkness, no one can be saved.

It crouches over the horizon, talons and all,

And over the sound of the waves one can scarcely hear its hiss of a call.

But when the sun surfaced out on the horizon at dawn,

The sharp rays encompassed much needed hope as they brightly shone.

The light penetrated through the glass, spreading its warmth throughout the room,

And for a moment, just for a moment, one forgot all the problems that heavily loom.
