Ghazal by Barbara Alfaro

On the edge of the witches’ well in the garden,

angels breathe their summer spell in the garden.

A child’s voice insists something to his mother.

Suddenly, the sound of bells in the garden.

Celebration bells! Insistent like the boy.

Luscious noise and joy swell in the garden.

Honeysuckle sorrow left at home, Barbara,

Whose secrets will you share, tell in the garden?
