Friends by Lois Perch Villemaire

Friends are bubbles of oxygen,

when it’s hard to breathe,

taking a deep inhale becomes easier.

Friends are sparkling sunlight,

appearing after you have been

followed by thick dark clouds.

Friends are a favorite song

heard for the first time in forever,

surprised you recall every word.

Friends are morning coffee,

your new favorite, decaf dairy-free latte,

rich aroma, smooth on your lips.

Friends are books you adore,

written words making you wonder

how the author could know you so well.
