Eddie Cicotte by Michael Ceraolo

It's not much of a jump

from cheating on the field to cheating off it

And that's what I did:

I knew it was wrong and I did it anyway,

so I don't expect, and don't deserve,

anyone's sympathy

The only thing I can say on my behalf

is that I tried my best to be

a good husband,

a good father,

a good grandfather,

a good great-grandfather

Others will judge if that makes up for it

Michael Ceraolo is a 63-year-old retired firefighter/paramedic and active poet who has had two full-length books (Euclid Creek, from Deep Cleveland Press; 500 Cleveland Haiku, from Writing Knights Press) published, and has two more, Euclid Creek Book Two and Lawyers, Guns, and Money, in the publication pipeline.
