Dress Rehearsal by Sterling Warner
We danced like Disney’s waltzing flowers
ignoring perfect time, enjoying the moment,
our feet seemed to float over worn wooden
floors; like stars for an instant, each twirl
became a memorable stroll into invention—
quick step exposition that shamelessly
showcased hidden talent and young resolve.
As our dance moved from the ballroom,
we glided into studios and social venues,
soulful centers of expressed purpose,
seldom stressing about poor footwork,
we pranced for pleasure passion infinite,
allowed music to meld our mindsets,
marshal our motions, boogie us till dawn.
