Dawn by Koyel Mitra

The bejeweled night sky

Waits eagerly

For a tryst.

The yellow orb

Peeps smilingly from its lair

In anticipation.

The numerous spangles

Bedeck the dark canopy,

Getting ready for the rendezvous.

Alas! all expectations

Turn futile as the jet black

Firmament turns paler.

The mellow star arises

Painting the canvas

With hues of cerise.
