choices by Phil Wood

along saffron sands

a braid of footprints

as dark as cumin

ribbon her solitude

where she swims

with whale song

through schools

of dazzling fish

darting in and out

of coral puzzles

the waves lapping

an island languid

with mango light

as the breeze plays

in cinnamon trees

an ocean unfolds

pages into her skin

this is what she wanted

this is what she loves

Phil Wood was born in Wales. He has worked in statistics, education, shipping, and a biscuit factory. His writing can be found in various publications, including: The Ink Pantry, Fevers of the Mind, Miller's pond, Autumn Sky Daily, Clementine Unbound.
