Behind the Looking Glass by Marchell Dyon
A mother’s love will always draw her back
On that cramp and narrow road
Where corn dries under a hot yellow sun
His life of nineteen years has ended him up here
Her son behind a concrete world of barbed wire and steel
He does his best to past on a smile
Silently, she reminds herself to talk about anything but the bruise
A faithful mother smiles back
Even though, she knows the nightmare that is his on the inside
He is her son no one can take away her love and her burden
He is her son behind the looking glass looking out
He is her son, called by a number and a shadow to a cell
A mother’s love will always draw her back
A mother’s love and the years of anonymity ahead
Or the solitude of glass.
