Ballad To Jack In The Box by H.L. Dowless

A man of beauty,

A man of wisdom,

A man of power,

Oh such a man he is.

He lives for that final hour,

when he shall release enormous energy.

A man of secrecy,

A man of pride,

is that Jack who thrives

in a box.

In a person’s most intense moment of intimidation,

To enlighten one’s despair, he clearly knocks!

Though the enemy may be great or small,

imposing on individual person or property,

a sound defeat is still yet possible

when some suffering innocent seeks Jack’s moment of generosity.

When gangsters assail

through threat and extortion,

he flies forth from well placed nests without fail,

sending them screaming with no hesitation,

leaving the innocent with so many fond tales!

He’s never sleazy,

cause the man’s never easy,

his situation shall provide the justification,

to paralyze mobs of individuals or an entire nation!

When those who are much larger and stronger,

desire to intimidate,

he lies in waiting for weeks or longer,

until that special moment can no more hesitate.

When entire nations are mighty and strong,

and seemingly invincible,

ole Jack in the box shall never go wrong,

laying all to splendid desolation with a magic that is incredible.

Ole Jack in the box,

Such a magnificent mighty man,

with a roaring thunder that rocks,

unto you the very best of moments belong;

only those among men who are knowledgeable can

sing this song,

or heed the moment when his spectacular opportunity knocks.
