All Bets Are Off by Japhy Mitchell

I can change my thoughts

Corral them into a sunny

Meadow

Spin them until they

Laugh

I can fold them like

Origami

Until the tattered paper

Is a rustic swan

But the ghost don't die

And when I close my eyes

All bets are off.

Japhy Mitchell is a poet and librarian who lives with his dog Tarkovsky. He has spent most of his life writing fiction but starting in 2020 he has switched to writing poetry exclusively because everyone knows that is where the money is.
